Bud Adams
Bud Adams is the founder of the Family Barber Shop on Oak Street in the Carrollton neighborhood of New Orleans. Bud has been cutting hair for nearly 70 years, and he has been on Oak Street all seven decades. In this podcast, Bud shares some of his earliest childhood memories of the neighborhood. He remembers going to the Poplar Movie House on Willow Street and watching silent movies. Bud also recalls that the price for haircuts was 35 cents when he first began cutting hair with his dad in 1956. Bud is a special New Orleanian with memories of a special time in the city; enjoy this journey back to the past when cigarettes were a penny apiece, and ladies would not go Downtown without their white gloves.
