Chris
Herrero

Christopher Herrero is band director for Edna Karr High School in New Orleans. Herrero’s leadership skills have served him well as he prepares his marching band for a New Year’s day performance in London, England. In this podcast, Herrero shares some stories from teachers and parents about potential problem students who turned themselves around and became better students after they joined the Edna Karr band. According to Herrero, the band “teaches them discipline, it teaches them how to work hard as a group, it teaches them many life lessons.” Recently, the Edna Karr marching band received an invitation to march in London’s New Year’s Day Parade. This trip is a once-in-the-lifetime opportunity for these talented high school students; however, not all students can afford to travel to London. If you can help, please donate at http://ednakarr.org/bandtrip. The school is also holding a fundraiser on Sunday, December 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the New Orleans Jazz Market on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard. For tickets, call (504) 302-7135.
