Claire
Stewart

Claire Stewart is marketing director for Aunt Sally's Pralines. Don't let Claire's Aussie accent fool you, she knows all about New Orleans' pralines. In this podcast, Claire describes the origins of pralines and explains how this confection evolved into the unique candy that is synonymous with New Orleans. She shares some of the history of the Bagur family that founded Aunt Sally's Pralines in the French Market in the 1930s. Claire also explains how New Orleans' location on the Mississippi River contributed greatly to the success Aunt Sally's Pralines had in those early years. More than eight decades later, a second location is now open on St. Charles Avenue. The history of the Bagur family and the pralines it has become famous for is so interesting that Aunt Sally's now offers a tour at its new St. Charles Avenue facility. The tour includes the history of the praline, a praline-making demonstration, and a tasting.
