David McCelvey
David McCelvey is the new owner of Franky and Johnny’s restaurant in Uptown New Orleans. David purchased the business in November of 2014. Although he is not a New Orleans native, David understands the importance of preserving tradition in this city where rich traditions are part of everyday life. In this podcast, David shares a little of the history of Franky and Johnny’s and explains how dock workers played a big role in the early days of the restaurant. According to David, he still welcomes lots of dock workers to the restaurant, in addition to locals from all over the city. David has a culinary background and has worked for some famous chefs, including Emeril Lagasse. However, although he has experience with high end cuisine, David loves the neighborhood family feeling of Franky and Johnny’s restaurant and has no intention of changing it a bit.
