Father Raymond Fitzgerald
Father Raymond Fitzgerald is President of Jesuit High School in New Orleans. Jesuit is synonymous with quality education in the city: many "Blue Jays" have distinguished themselves within the Crescent City and beyond. Father Fitzgerald describes how Jesuit High School began in 1847 in downtown New Orleans and tells us that the school moved in 1925 to its current Mid-City location at Banks Street and S. Carrollton Avenue.
Father recounts some of the history of the Jesuit order that Spanish Saint Ignatius Loyola established in 1540. Pope Francis I is the first Jesuit to be elected Pope; ironically, St. Ignatius Loyola did not want Jesuits to seek high office. Father Fitzgerald shares his thoughts and views on the new Pope from the Jesuit order.
