He explains how important visualization is to successfully achieve a fitness goal, and also gives us some tips to make small adjustments to achieve our long term goals. For example, Mackie points out that to lose weight, we can lose one pound in 35 days simply by cutting out 100 calories a day from our diets, or by exercising for 10 minutes each day. According to Mackie, joining a gym is not necessary for everyone: "it depends on your mindset". However, Mackie does point out that for those who have not exercised in a while, getting a doctor's okay is necessary before embarking on an exercise program.
